“I heard about Tricklebank through a business acquaintance. After I had the first meeting with Martin I was impressed with his manner and approach to me, who was a little apprehensive about building a house to say the least. Martin reassured me and I signed up with Tricklebank. From day one Martin kept me up to date and informed on each stage of the project. I found all of Martin’s team very helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble. The site was always clean and tidy.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Tricklebank, Martin Silcock and his team. If I were ever to build a house again I would choose Tricklebank. I would personally like to thank Martin and his team, you have all done me and my children proud. We have a fantastic home that we all love.

    Thank you.”

Having just completed our new build project with Martin Silcock and his team at Tricklebank, we couldn’t be happier with the end result. It has far exceeded our expectations in quality and attention to detail. Tricklebank’ s caring, dependable, professional, and honest attitude kept us going throughout the build despite the hurdles that came our way.

You cannot beat the workmanship of Martin and his team. Every day they showed us how, what, and why they were doing what they were doing. It made it an interesting and exciting experience for us, and created an excellent work environment and relationship all round. Martin provided suggestions and options at every stage to ensure our build was of the highest standard whilst also looking after our budget and taking care of our greatest life expense. The team were always on time, reliable, friendly, and hardworking and always put our interests first.

We feel very fortunate to have found and worked with Martin and his team and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them or work with them again. They are the builders everyone needs.”

“Tricklebank built and helped with the bespoke design of our beautiful family home in Churchtown in 2003. A home to suit our specific requirements. A four bedroom rustic country house with separate wing to accommodate our two severely disabled children. The house consisted of beautiful oak floors and sandstone flagging with French Oak beams and bespoke open log fireplace. In beautiful surroundings. Martin Silcock worked with our Architect in the design and paying particular attention to special loaded ceilings for hoist systems and special needs bathroom.

We were so pleased we chose Tricklebank for our house build the finish product was exceptional and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Martin Silcock. Thank you again for our beautiful home.”

After tendering for our extensive project, we finally chose Tricklebank based on their knowledge, experience and general all round good guys. We employed them to construct a large single storey extension with a large expanse of sliding windows. Also a complete renovation of the ground floor of the existing property and improvements to the first floor.

Martin Silcock handled all of the project management with great expertise, complying with all health & safety requirements and building regulations. We had regular site meetings, so as clients, we were kept completely aware of developments on site. Due to poor previous maintenance, our house had extensive problems which were all dealt with expertly by the Tricklebank team. Upon completion, they also redesigned our garden and grounds to allow us inside-outside living whichwe wanted to achieve.

We are now the proud owners of a beautiful home and are very grateful to Martin and his team of consummate professionals for the outstanding workmanship and attention to detail he afforded us during the entire project. Martin and his team are friendly, hardworking, knowledgeable, trustworthy and reliable and go above and beyond to make their client happy. We are grateful to have chosen them to renovate our home and would not hesitate to recommend their services to others.

“As we hear so much about the ‘vandalism’ committed by ‘rogue builders’ and the damage they have then done to the reputation of more competent and honest builders, so I would like to highlight the professionalism and high quality work of one of your members, Martin Silcock of Tricklebank who has very recently completed the management of a successful project for me. It is people like Martin who through their openness, tenacity, passion, ‘client-focus’, attention to detail and hard work, are a shining example and a role model for how the industry should operate.

With previous builders I had got a long way into the major renovation and extension of my beautiful 17th century farm house in the Lake District when the financial crises hit. They were good technical builders in many ways and things progressed ok at first with demolishing and building work, but they were certainly not ‘sympathetic’ to the ancient building and they clearly did not have the competence to finish with quality and finesse. This first company became seriously delayed, spent all my funds and still left my house uninhabitable. Just before they stopped they were focusing energy on high cost non-priority digging work instead of completing my home. They then left the house insecure with no door and all the windows open. They also left the land in a shocking state with huge craters as if bombs had exploded everywhere.

I worked hard for two years to raise funding to start building again but then discovered it was impossible to find other builders willing to take over the project to completion. I looked at your site without much hope – but was lucky to find Martin Silcock and Tricklebank!

Martin was willing to spend time listening and discussing with me by phone and then drove hours to visit me on site. Right from the start, Martin was positive, open and full of ideas to create a quality authentic finish AND save me money. Even though he was hours away, he stepped up to the challenge to complete my home when no one else would. His passion, enthusiasm and attention to detail were infectious and he managed all the specialists with this great spirit. All the guys he employed were client-focused, polite and highly competent. This was important in re-building my trust and confidence as the previous crew had done so much shoddy work that had to be done over again. There were many unexpected and often difficult problems to solve but Martin and his team were creative and tenacious and really determined to succeed. I was not often home in UK but at every stage Martin proactively communicated; emailing me with photos to discuss decisions and progress. I always felt that he had my best interests in mind and he found many ways to save me money whilst maintaining high quality.

Inevitably with a large and complex renovation project there were many surprises and consequently costs increased. But I never once felt taken advantage of when this was easily possible. I highly commend Martin and the Tricklebank team for all their care and great work on finalising this project. I am delighted with how it has turned out and must say that it is far beyond my expectations. I thank Martin in particular for committing to it and me with such passion and energy.

In Martin, you have a member to be proud of.

    Best wishes and sincere thanks.”
